Kotiate- The Kotiate was a thrusting weapon used in close hand-to-hand combat. Commonly made from whalebone or wood. Its name translates to to cut or divide the live, this most likely comes from the fact that this weapon resembles the lobed part of the human liver. Maori chiefs often held this weapon while holding speeches and due to this often is associated with strength and leadership. Not recommended to wear stained pendants in water as constant exposure over a long period of time could affect the staining.
